It's been too long since we listened to Ennio Morricone around here. And so the 915th Soundtrack of the Week is his score for Cuore di Mamma.

"Ricreazione Divertita (Titoli)" goes through several different genres, beginning with very pretty and crystalline "childhood and family" music, then an actual children's chorus, followed by acid rock, military music, serious "classical" music and then the children's voices again.

"La Sveglia" starts with solo trumpet in a "Taps" mood, with punctuation by jaw harp and a few other instruments, a sedate parallel to some of Morricone's spaghetti western music.

Then a small string ensemble plays a convincing imitation of classical music for "Giorno di Lavoro", which sets up a startling contrast when the next cue, "Cominciano i Problem", is a moody, atmospheric, cloudy and modern piece.

Wordless female vocals—Edda Dell'Orso?—are the feature of "Ninna Nanna Per Adulteri", a beautiful and very simple piece with a children's song quality to it.

More quiet loveliness pervades "Cuore di Mamma (Quartetto)", a string quartet version of the main theme, while "Ouverture del Mattino" expands on the "classical" ideas already presented.

"Suoni per un Clavicembalo" is a nice track with harpsichord or harpsichord-like instrument front and center.

Things then get pensive and moody again for the eerie-sounding "Ricominciano Gravi, I Problemi".

The title themes are restated in "Marcia Del Generale Graziosi" and then there are alternate versions of several other cues.
