February turned out to be porn soundtrack month here at Gutbrain. Why not? The last selection will be this Something Weird release of The Best of Doris Wishman, the 897th Soundtrack of the Week.

Doris Wishman was a filmmaker who made a lot of movies, mostly some kind of sexploitation.

"Xavana" is more of a traditional bossa piece, with acoustic guitar creating most of the setting and Salvanini's vocals again taking some Brian Wilson-ish flights.

This release mixes movie trailer audio (perhaps radio spots) with soundtrack music, mostly lightly jazzy songs such as "Moon Doll" for Nude on the Moon or "Sun Lover's Blues" for Diary of a a Nudist.

There's a nice, peppy, electric guitar-driven instrumental for Bad Girls Go to Hell and a heavy acid rock number, "Hard-Selling Woman" that's maybe for the movie Deadly Weapons.

It's quite the time capsule and a fun listen, very heavy on the trailers and dialogue from the movies.
