High-energy, snarling, punk garage Stooges-like rock and roll was alive and well in Maine in the 1980s. At least, that's the very strong impression given by The Brood's In Spite of It All.

This band is amazing. Great songs and incredible playing. Freaking Farfisa and growly, distorted guitars!

The lead singer, Chris, has an Iggy-like sound to her voice and the music will appeal to fans of the Teenage Shutdown series.

Every song is a miniature masterpiece and there are sixteen of them on this record!

The titles pretty much tell a story all by themselves:

"Satisfyin'"
"Cry"
"Why Don't You Call Me?"
"See If I Care"
"I'm Not the One"
"Everybody's a Liar"
"Don't Look for Me"
"I Need You There"
"You Lie"
"You Turned Your Back on Me"
"How Many Times?"
"You'll See"
"Yer No Good"
"I'll Put You Down"
"Taste of the Same"
"On Fire"

Not on this record but somewhere else, they also covered John Barry's theme to Beat Girl, which is a very hip thing to do!

A truly awesome band. Did they name themselves after the David Cronenberg movie?
